Sharron Rose

Sharron Rose, MA.Ed, is a true renaissance woman.
A filmmaker, choreographer/ composer, author, teacher
and performer, she has spent the past thirty years
working in the fields of education and the arts to
investigate integrate and impart the knowledge and
wisdom of ancient and traditional cultures throughout
the world.
Trained from childhood in the Classical Western arts
of Ballet, Opera and Theatre, after receiving a diploma
from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, a B.A. in Theatre
from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in Education
from George Washington University, during the mid to
late 70’s while studying with modern dance luminaries,
Merce Cunningham, Louis Falco and Twyla Tharp, she
became a member of New York City’s vital dance/theatre/performance
art scene.
From 1983-1988, with the assistance of a Professional
Development Grant from the American Institute of Indian
Studies (1983-84), and a Fulbright Senior Research
Fellowship (1986-88), she began extensive research
into the art, culture and spiritual traditions of North
India. During this time she became the first American
disciple of early Bollywood film star and renowned
Classical Indian dancer, Sitara Devi and was initiated
into a sacred tradition of the ancient feminine Yogic
Arts that had been handed down from teacher to student
for thousands of years. Since that time of introduction
and initiation she has consistently sought out other
remnants of these symbolic teachings in the ancient
cultures of Egypt and Tibet, as well as in those of
the Kabbalah and Gnosticism.
Due to her knowledge and expertise in these ancient
traditions, as well as her ability to assist in developing
programs to foster harmonious dialogue between people
of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, from
1993-97, together with Ramzi El Edlibi , she created
multicultural arts-in-education programs for Arts Horizons
and Lotus Fine Arts in New York, as well as Young Audiences
of Connecticut, New Jersey and Virginia. Ms. Rose has
lectured and performed in numerous universities as
well as for cultural organizations and museums throughout
the world. In addition, she has served as a consultant
to the National Endowment for the Arts.
In the realm of filmmaking, Ms. Rose is the producer
of the forthcoming feature film Shasta, writer/director
of the documentary films, 2012 The Odyssey and Timewave
2013, executive producer of the feature documentary,
Infinity: The Ultimate Trip, and producer of the Sacred
Mysteries DVD Collection. Since 2000, she has been
president of the DVD distribution company, Sacred Mysteries
Distribution.
Ms. Rose is the author of the award–winning book,
The Path of the Priestess: A Guidebook for Awakening
the Divine Feminine (Inner Traditions) and contributing
author to the book, The Mystery of 2012 (Sounds True).
Currently, she is producing/directing/composing the
ritual performance/cd/film project, Shakti’s
Bliss, a celebration of the music, dance and myths
