2012 and the Future of Humanity
By Sharron Rose, MA, Ed.
The subject of 2012 and the future of humanity
has been moving to the forefront of our collective
consciousness over the past few years. Numerous
books, films,
and articles are now available on the subject with many more in production.
Due to this outpouring of knowledge of the subject we are in a position
to not only increase our awareness of the crucial
issues of our times but also
become leaders in the reshaping of our world into one of true alignment
with the highest of spiritual values.
Prophesies from many traditions from all over the
world over speak of a great transformative shift
that is happening in the years around 2012.
The Mayan
calendar comes to a close on December 21st 2012. The Q’ero Shamans of Peru
speak of this same timeframe in their prophecy called Pacha Kuti which is the
time in which they say that the luminous ones will return and the world will
be turned right side up again. The Hindus, Buddhists, Cherokee, Maori, Jews,
Christians and many others have ancient prophesies that speak to the nature
of this very crucial and amazing moment in time. We have documented much
of this traditional knowledge and more in the two films that Sacred Mysteries
produced concerning the year 2012, 2012 The Odyssey and Timewave
2013.
Many people are in denial of these prophecies. Caught in the web of the cultural
trance that Alberto Villodo speaks about, lost in the mist of the dreamspell
that Jose Arguelles describes or the dominator trance so eloquently depicted
by Riane Eisler, or just so focused upon dealing with the vicissitudes of day
to day life, they do not recognize the changes that are afoot. Even if most
people fail to see the spiritual re-emergence that is occurring right now it
is impossible for anyone to miss the tangible events that are happening. The
war in Iraq, the economy, global warming, peak oil and globalization are only
a few of the issues that are arising right now. Many of these issues are situations
which the human race has never dealt with before. In addition, it feels as
if time itself is speeding up moving inexorably to a powerful shift in our
day to day reality. Our world, our future, all that we have known is being
altered right now, all around us. It is up to us to make sure that we make
the right choices now. Because whatever we decide it will affect the future
and the lives of our children and grandchildren.
Due to the all-pervasive influence of the media and the new freedom of
the internet, we are being inundated with a lot of information. But how
much
of it is good information? It is as if all of our thoughts and feelings, all
of our dreams, visions and nightmares are being stirred up and brought forth
for all to see. It is almost as if there are no secrets anymore. Everything
is rising out of the muck and being exposed for all to see. While it is
good to keep an open mind towards witnessing the very serious and haunting
condition
of the current world situation it is easy to become bogged down in this
and let the extreme negativity of it cause depressions and short tempers.
Therefore,
as we travel through this challenging time one of the most important things
we can do right now is keep a cool head and open heart in the face of such
adversity.
In this election year we have been hearing a lot about both
hope and fear. Yet in order to come through this challenging
time we must move beyond hope and fear into right action. It
is time to have the courage to come face to face with the serious
issues that are confronting us and discover realistic solutions.
To find these solutions we must look deep within ourselves
to encounter the place of true knowledge and wisdom. In our
film Timewave 2013, Don Umberto, Shaman/Healer of the
Q’ero of Peru says, “America has great brilliance, but now
that brilliance must be brought down to the heart. Without
the gifts of the heart we will not be able to think our way
out of the problem.” He also tells us that America needs to
take a leadership role in solving the difficult problems that
confront us. We need to return to the ways of the heart, of
love, compassion and healing, working together to reconnect
with Mother Earth and create a sustainable future.
Recently we had the privilege of interviewing many of the
leading Western astrologers on the subject of the coming Pluto/Uranus
square and its implications for our world. This square appears
to be a reflection of the Pluto/Uranus conjunction that took
place in the sixties. It appears that we are coming face to
face with the results of our hopes and dreams of that period.
It is time to ask the questions, who have we become? Have we
actualized the idealistic and revolutionary visions we had
at that time or just been hypnotized and diverted by the messages
of egotism, greed and fear that have been so all pervasive?
I believe that the difference between today as opposed to
the 1960's is that in our desire for change, in our desire
for a more meaningful and spiritually vibrant way of life,
rather than look to our elders for guidance we chose alternative
paths. We sat in ceremony with the Shamans, went to the East
to learn yoga and meditation and opened the doors to heretofore
secret mystic teachings such as Kabbalah and Alchemy. Many
of us have spent thirty or more years dedicated to these powerful
teachings and practices. Now in our late fifties and sixties
we have become the new elders of our world. Therefore it is
time for us, the sixties generation to come forward to give
advice and help the younger generation through the transition
that awaits all of us in the near future.
So I call on the members of my generation, the generation of Vietnam, the Beatles,
Woodstock, organic food, alternative healing and spiritual practices to come
forth. This time we must become the elders that we did not have the luxury
of possessing all those years ago. I think that this is the great task that
has been given to the members of my generation. We have often been accused
of being selfish and petty. Now is the time for us to come forth, with all
of our strength and abilities and reshape the world.
It is up to us to help guide the future, to use the incredible
knowledge and experience that can only be gained by living
a long time and pass the good news down to the next generation:
we are going to make it as a species. Human beings are not
at the end of the road, we are only at the beginning. The
road ahead is filled with dangers, to be sure, but it is also
a road towards a future that will be far different from the
present or the past. The tools that we have at our disposal,
the knowledge that we possess are the spiritual gifts that
we must give back now at this crucial moment in human history.
Living in the midst of this time of change has made us deeply aware of the
fact that a new consciousness is emerging. Like the phoenix rising from the
ashes, there is a great upwelling of energy towards creating a sustainable
future, a world where we are not judged by our past but by who we are.
